Who Lords Ya, Baby?
When I was very young (key word being very), there was a TV show about a police detective named, Kojak. The title role was played by Telly Savalas who had a real swagger about him. Those of you who remember the show will recall Kojak’s signature phrase which was, “Who Loves Ya, Baby?” It was the rage back in the day for a guy to jokingly go up to a girl and in a cavalier way to ask that phrase.
This week my study of God’s word has caused me to come up with my own rendition of Kojak’s famous phrase. In reading Philippians 2, I have decided to change the phrase to, “Who Lords Ya, Baby?” In other words, who is the Lord of your life? Or better yet, what would your life look like if every area of it was under the Lordship of Jesus Christ? I have meditated on that last question for several days now and with God’s help, I mean to continue meditating on it. Is there any are of our life no matter how personal or embarrassing we might consider it to be that Christ cant touch and redeem? My guess is that Christ is just loving enough and humble enough to want to be the center of every private and public corner of our lives.
This Lordship also carries with it a domino effect. If we bring every area of our own lives under His Lordship then it becomes easier to bring our marriages, then our families, then our churches, the our communities, and so on. It may sound a bit dramatic and even uncomfortable to consider that the one thing that may be holding back Christ’s Lordship in your church or community is you. Ouch, that hurt. So I’ve already asked myself this and I will ask it to you and leave it with you, “Who Lord’s Ya, Baby?”
Are You A Plus(+) or A Minus(-)?
Me and a friend have had a great ongoing discussion lately about relationships. My friend brought up a very interesting point about how people approach relationships. The gist was that a healthy relationship begins when a person seeks what they can give another person, not what they can get from them. That made stop and […]
What Are You Doing With Your Chopsticks?
There is a story of a Korean general. He died, was judged, and assigned to paradise. But when he came up before St. Peter he thought of something he would like to do. He wanted to peep into hell for a moment, just to have an idea of it. “Right you are,“ said St. Peter.

How Genuine Are We?
[Mike’s Comment: I have posted a lot lately on the subject of the church being the greater family and our need for true community. Josh sent me this post and I think it is the basis for building real community. How genuine are we with each other?]
I see this video as a litmus test to […]
No Such Thing As An Accident
Have you ever stopped to think how even Christians can be superstitious. We use words like luck, chance, fate, and fortune even in meaningful contexts. Its like we unwittingly are acknowledging a power apart from God that influences and affects our lives.
A few weeks ago I began reading, The Mystery Of Providence by John Flavel. […]
